Effects of 16, 16-dimethyl Prostaglandin E₂on Liver Function and DNA Contents of Liver in CC1₄administered Rats

Abstract
|
|
|
The present study was carried out to assess the cytoprotective effects of dmPGE2 on the liver tissue in CC1, administered rats.
The rats were divided into two groups, control and experimental, and experimental group was further divided into three groups, dmPGE2 group, CCI, group and CC1,+dmPGE2 group.
24 and 48 hours after injection of experimental drug and saline, SGPT, alkaline phosphatase, total bilirubin and DNA contents were measured, and following results were obtained.
1) SGPT increase in CCI, administered(48 hours) group was significant compared to that of control group, and dmPGE2 decreased SGPT level in CC14+dmPGE2(48 hours) group.
2) CC14 increased the total bilirubin level, but dmPGE2 decreased it in CC14+dmPGE2(48 hours) group.
3) Alkaline phophatase level was decreased in CCI,-administered(48 hours) group, but dm PGE2 had the tendency of increasing the alkaline phosphatase level.
4) DNA contents of liver tissue in CCI, administered group was decreased compared to that of control group, and d*nPGE2 increased the DNA contents in liver tissue.
